The green space of the Firouzeh Mansion offers an opportunity to say no to evergreen plants, no to sculptural tree choices, and no to ancient olives, Dutch jasmines, or trees taken from the Hyrcanian forests—an opportunity to embrace authenticity.
Selecting species that transform with the seasons gives the rooftop a lively, ever-changing character and allows for a miniature four-season experience. In summer, the rooftop is filled with dense, lush greenery, while in autumn, warm colors and dry textures create a nostalgic and gentle atmosphere. The natural growth of plants and the acceptance of the autumnal cycle are integral to this design’s beauty, turning decay into part of the visual experience rather than hiding it.
This terrace provides a complete experience of luxurious living in the heart of Tehran’s skyline. Designed to balance aesthetics, functionality, and a connection with nature, it beautifully reflects the modern lifestyle and refined taste of its residents.
Korush Green Roof :
Green flags visible from afar
The Korush Towers are built on a 5,846-square-meter plot on the slopes of the Alborz Mountains in the Darakeh area. The site, characterized by its natural incline atop a hill, rises above the surrounding land on three sides. This natural form has influenced the building’s massing, the spatial arrangement of its common areas, and its visibility from the northern highways of Tehran.
The Korush Towers consist of two relatively separate complexes connected via a lobby, each with 18 floors, 13 of which are residential. Although the architectural design of these towers is not strictly site-specific, the brick façade, combined with façade greenery, rooftop landscaping, and the central terrace, has positively impacted the visual landscape and captured the attention of viewers.
Pasargard Insurance Green Roof :
Rooftop Greenery at the Office Tower
The Pasargard Insurance building features various green spaces, including the rooftop, terrace, atrium, entrance landscaping, and multiple green walls, all irrigated using treated gray water. An intelligent irrigation system integrated with the building’s BMS manages all areas, while monitoring, maintenance, and care are handled by ZiaEco.
One of ZiaEco’s key innovations in this project is the smart irrigation design, which sends error notifications to ZiaEco if watering does not occur, allowing experts to promptly visit the building and address any issues.
The green islands are implemented with the Wicks system, which eliminates water wastage and significantly reduces the frequency of irrigation.
Hermes Beautiful Green Roof :
Beauty at Heights
One of the standout features of the Hermes Tower’s green spaces is the creation of unique fragrances throughout the seasons. Plants and trees are carefully selected to offer residents a new natural scent experience in every season. Additionally, the colorful and captivating landscapes showcase beautiful seasonal color combinations, pleasantly reflecting the natural changes of the year. The high diversity of plant species in this project not only enhances visual beauty but also creates a vibrant natural environment that attracts various insects and birds, promoting biodiversity within the space.
Iranshahr Green Roof :
The rooftop is closer to God…
The rooftop of a building provides a great opportunity to create a space with new functions, such as greenery, relaxation areas, meeting spaces, or play zones. In contemporary architecture, courtyards have lost much of their traditional meaning and functionality, as they are often small and surrounded by tall walls, towers, and neighboring buildings. In contrast, a rooftop offers openness on all four sides, reduced visibility, and a sense of privacy. This space could potentially replace the courtyard in the near future, allowing for the planting of fruit trees or plane trees.
The gazebo covers an area of 28 square meters and is equipped with heating and cooling systems, making it usable throughout the year. Cylindrical lights provide the necessary illumination for the seating area beneath the gazebo. The best use of a green rooftop may often be at night, making lighting one of the most important considerations. The semi-open space of the gazebo is considered one of the main areas of the green roof, where gatherings and relaxation under its shade are particularly enjoyable.
Chamber of Commerce Green Roof :
A Green Roof as Expansive as the Parking Deck
The Chamber of Commerce parking garage green roof is one of the largest rooftop green projects at an urban scale. This rooftop has transformed from a mere functional surface into a lush, dynamic space, featuring a wide variety of plant species, shade trees, shrubs, and greenery at different levels. The use of hanging plants along edges and walls creates visual dynamism and vertical layering, turning the parking deck into a garden in the heart of the city.
This project serves as an inspiring example of the potential to utilize forgotten urban spaces to create vibrant, functional, and sustainable environments, where engineering performance and landscape design work in harmony to deliver a unique spatial experience.
Jordan Green Roof :
Green Roofs for Mid-Rise Residential Buildings
The Jordan Green Roof is a successful example of utilizing unused rooftop space in a mid-rise residential-commercial building. In this project, through the creation of well-planned planting layers, selection of resilient plants, and functional design, a vibrant, usable green space was provided for residents and building users. This space not only enhances the visual appeal of the building but also improves air quality, reduces rooftop temperature, and creates a sense of tranquility in the urban environment. The Jordan Green Roof demonstrates that even in mid-sized buildings, smart design can significantly elevate the quality of life.
